Most of us heard the adage ‘Knowledge is power’. Some of us repeat it often or even live by it. However, knowledge on its own is just a collection of data points taking up space in your mind, on the bookshelf, on the memory chip of your computer or any other form of storage device. Something that adds little to no value or has no impact whatsoever.
Knowledge which is applied is power
However, when you take action based on the knowledge you have acquired, you gain more power. Power over yourself, your own fears and everything else that concerns you. Unfortunately, there are those that use that knowledge and power to prey on the fear of the unknown within others as well. The more you know, the less you fear and the less likely it is that you fall prey to those who want to gain power over you and control you. Give them your power and you are at their mercy.
The more you know, the more you realize that you don’t know much at all in the grand scheme of things. The important thing is to:
Know what you know | Know what you do not know you know, often referred to as your intuition, your instinct or gut feeling, and tap into that |
Know what you do not know and need to learn more about | Know that you don’t know what you do not know. Here is where honest mistakes happen and where a wealth of knowledge reside, waiting to be discovered or uncovered |
Tap into your knowledge base, expand it and unlock the pathways to a more vital life in harmony with what is, with a sense of freedom in your heart, body, mind and soul.
The life-long endeavor
Make sure you always keep learning: about yourself and others; the mechanisms of our being as a whole; ways to build and maintain solid connections as well as to recognize and break away from those that no longer serve you; past and current events; new skills, developments and techniques; new hobbies and pastimes; and more. This sounds like a lot and it is. For that reason, think carefully about who you surround yourself with, who you learn from and share things with, where you source your information from, which topics you focus on and which ones you outsource; and learn to discern what is in your benefit and what harms you based on your inner knowing and experiences rather than what others tell you is best or harmful for you. To question, investigate, experiment, learn, and grow is part of our nature, all of us.
The voice behind the words
Fortunately for me, through the years, i remained curious, inquisitive, eager to learn, willing to experiment, and flexible to question established beliefs, even my own. Though some experiences in my life may be classified as unpleasant, the lessons they held saved me in so many ways. What i learned in the process and the people i surrounded myself with, kept me going through good and bad times and facilitated me in doing what was necessary to allow myself to heal. Though i realize that despite all the things i learn, i still don’t know much at all, i am encouraged to keep learning, challenging myself (and others), implementing things, and growing. My aim is to turn this knowledge into wisdom and pass it on to you too, so you can lessen and even remove your own burdens and heal yourself in the process. This is only a beginning and in articles to come, i expound on these topics and introduce more. By reading them and engaging with me, you get to know me and my stance in life better, and hopefully get to know yourself better too as well as others you connect with. Let me know what your take-aways are. Your suggestions for topics to delve into are also welcome. Leave your comments below the articles and let us turn them into conversations that benefit us all.
